CPOP Kindergarten Screening

This morning Andrew and I headed to Christ, Prince of Peace for his Kindergarten screening.  Andrew and Mrs. Drabelle, his Kindergarten teacher worked one on one for about twenty minutes while I waited outside the conference room.  It was a bit nerve-racking just sitting there not knowing how it was going :)  Before I knew it, I was called in to discuss the results.  Andrew scored just fine in all areas and there were no major concerns or red flags.  He is ready for Kindergarten and Mrs. Drabelle is just thrilled to have him in her class :)

She shared with me a couple of questions/answers that Andrew came up with that she always looks forward to hearing the responses from the kiddos.  The first one was a picture of an airplane, car, truck, helicopter and bus.  Most kids answer "toys" because they actually look like toys that you would play with.  That is not what the screening is looking for the answer.  Andrew answers, "moving vehicles" without even hesitating she says.  And that is exactly what they are looking for - ha!!  She said she only gets one or two kiddos a year that get that picture right - good thing Andrew has an obsession with vehicles - mostly emergency ones :)  The second picture was of a TV, radio, VCR, etc. and they were looking for electricity or satellite for an answer because you have to plug each of these items in to work or get a signal and Andrew answers, "oh, you just need DirecTV."  Awesome.  Glad to know Andrew knows who our satellite carrier is and they are what make our TV work :)

You never know what is going to come out of that little boy's mouth, but I can guarantee it gets a reaction out of most people :)
