BBQ with Fred Bird!!

Today after our successful garage sale, we took the boys to see Fred Bird up at Prudential Realty - thanks Shannon and Cecily!! They had hot dogs, popcorn, drinks, balloons, bubbles and games - who could ask for anything more!?!? And, of course we got to say hi to Fred Bird!! They had a photographer too who got much better shots than me, but here are a couple of Steve and his boys :)

Saying hi to Fred Bird.

Say cheese!!

Sleep Over at Gigi and PaPa's

This afternoon PaPa picked up Andrew for the night!! I wish I could say that we had big plans, but really it was so we could get ready for our first garage sale. Yes I know, I never thought that I would be blogging about a garage sale, but here I am :) Our neighborhood is sponsoring a garage sale tomorrow and we are taking part to hopefully get rid of LOTS of things we have accumulated over the years!! We figured Andrew may have a hard time seeing some toys leave our house, so Gigi and PaPa graciously took Andrew for us :)

Trinity's Spring Social

Steve and I were able to spend the evening with just Andrew for a change. We went out to dinner at Pasta House (Andrew's pick) and then went to his preschool for their Spring Social. Andrew had plenty of awesome artwork displayed that he had completed throughout the year. It was so fun to see him point it out to us and tell us what he had made - he was so proud of his masterpieces!! There were so many activities for us to do, a snow cone truck for treats and the night ended with a magician :) We didn't quite know what to expect, but he was actually pretty good with the kids. Andrew was ready to go about 10 mins into the show because he told us it was too loud. It's amazing how loud it can get in a room full of kids under the age of 6!!

Happy Easter!!

The boys have been looking foward to Easter for a while now. We have been reading lots of books and talking about this day for what seems like forever :) We had a very big day ahead of us with Church, brunch, dinner and numerous Easter Egg Hunts!!

Dying Easter Eggs

Tonight we headed to Gigi and PaPa's to dye Easter Eggs. Andrew has been talking about it all week and was so excited to finally get to do it!! Nathan loved watching and throwing the eggs - good thing they were hard-boiled :)

Andrew hard at work.

One right after another.

The boys still going at it.

I think we may be closed to being finished.

All done!!

New Teacher of the Deaf

Today Nathan started therapy with a new teacher of the deaf from St. Joseph's Institute of the Deaf. Our original therapist that has been working with Nathan since he's been about 5 months old was a bit discouraged with his progress and started to go down a path that no one else agreed with - we'll leave it at that. Anyway, after much discussion with SJID it was decided that a new therapist would be a better fit at this time, so that's what we did. Today, we had our first session with Barb and it could not have gone better!! We look forward to our relationship to grow with Barb and for Nathan to keep progressing with speech and language. Nathan will also undergo a language assessment by a Speech Pathologist in June to help get us some clarification where he stands and how we should proceed forward. We continue to work on our sounds and words and hope for the best!!

New Orthotics

After several appointments with two different orthotists, we finally were able to get a good pair of orthotics for Nathan. Nathan had grown out of his heel/ankle orthotics and needed more support for weight-bearing, which led us to new orthotics to support his entire foot and up through his calf/lower leg. Although they are quite cumbersome, we know they will help Nathan keep the proper position while standing and give him the much support he needs to build up his endurance. We hope we get used to them quickly!!

German Christmas Dinner

Every Christmas Eve, my Aunt Donna and Uncle Tom host a huge traditional German meal - Sauerbraten, potato pancakes and cabbage. I LOVE this meal and look forward to it every year. Unfortunately, I have only enjoyed leftovers ever since I have been married - we can't be two places at once!! Well to our luck this past year, the weather was too bad for my Dad's side of the family to get together which led to our German Christmas dinner in April!! We loved hanging out with everyone and enjoying the wonderful food.

On the Go!!

Despite the frigid weather this morning, we headed to Parkway Early Childhood Center for their big "On the Go" Event. They have every vehicle you can think of for the kids to ride, climb in or check out and then have numerous activities inside dealing all with vehicles and safety. Last year we didn't even make it inside, but this year we were very thankful for the inside activities!!

Lunch at Josephine's

This afternoon my Mom, Aunt Donna, Laura and I all met at Josephine's Tea Room in Godfrey, IL. It was great to get away for the day and just relax with the Bruemer girls. Lunch was wonderful and all of the little shops were great to walk around. Hopefully, we will be back again around Christmas time - it's a sight to see with all of their decorations. The food and desserts are to die for!!

Swing Set

Just some fun pics of Andrew playing on his swing set :)

Keeping a look-out over the yard. Climbing up the rock wall.
Almost to the top!!

Deep Fried Turkey

Today we headed over to Todd and Laura's to enjoy the day and welcome Todd back home from a 10 week assignment in Virginia. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed being outside and just relaxing. Here's how I found Nathan when he was supposed to be sleeping :) Andrew helping Uncle Todd season the turkey. Nathan passed out for a bit in his stroller with a death grip on his phone.
Taking the turkey out of the fryer - yum!!
