We have been asked how people can help our family to support the boys' needs...and we have created the Andrew and Nathan Vehige Special Needs Trust.
The boys' Special Needs Trust is in place to support and protect them for the rest of their lives. The money put into the trust will be used for direct medical benefit for Andrew and Nathan. This will include numerous therapies, prescriptions, orthotics, durable medical equipment – such as a power wheelchair and accessible van, therapeutic camps, etc. The list just goes on.
The trust allows us to spend the money now while the boys need it as well as protect all of our assets in the event that we aren't around. In that case, whomever has responsibility for our children will have all that they need and Andrew and Nathan will be protected because the special needs trust prevents anyone from using the money for anything but the specific needs of the boys.
