Ups & Downs

Time has flown by us with all of the ups and downs over the past week or so.

Last week Nathan underwent another MRI which showed that his cyst and fourth ventricle have grown some. The neurology team continues to keep a close eye on Nathan, but they do not want to have to intervene (with surgery) unless it's absolutely necessary. Nathan continued his feeds well and was taken completely off of oxygen!! Over the weekend, Nathan had a couple severe episodes which made the doctors stop his bottle feedings. Nathan rested the weekend and even Monday before resuming the bottle again.

Nathan resumed his bottle feedings Tuesday and was doing okay but still with some minor episodes. He underwent an Upper GI (Gastrointestinal) Tract X-ray Wednesday morning just to rule out there were no issues with his anatomy and function of his esophagus and stomach. All looked great!! After those results and further talking with the GI specialist, it was decided to thicken Nathan's feedings (for the third time). So far, Nathan is handling the thickened feedings well. We hope this continues and the episodes subside so we can get our little guy home.

Speaking of little, Nathan now weighs 8 lbs 7.5 oz!! He is growing so fast and turning into quite the little feisty boy. We have a big care coordination meeting with ALL of Nathan's doctors Monday and hope that we receive some good news. Every day Nathan puts up a great fight in his never-ending journey. We just hope and pray that he can start to fight with us at home very soon!!
