Interview with Mike Bush

This afternoon Mike Bush from News Channel 5 along with a camera man came to our house to interview our family.  We were asked by the Muscular Dystrophy Association if this was something we would be interested in doing since Andrew's diagnosis is still relatively new to us.  Mike wanted to profile a family dealing with a recent diagnosis and we agreed to do the interview. 

Both Steve and I were interviewed separately about our family, Andrew and then the news we received six months ago that Andrew has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  The interviews were hard for Steve and I, but hopefully they turn out better than expected and most importantly help bring awareness to our situation along with all of the other families out there that are affected by this horrible disease.  We have always said that we will do anything to help our children and hope this in turn helps the MDA.  We have been welcomed with open arms from many members of the MDA and cannot say enough about the organization.  They continue to do awesome research and we pray a cure is in the making!!

After our interviews, Mike and Andrew spent some time playing together.  Andrew absolutely LOVED the attention and showing Mike all of his favorite toys :)  They spent quite a bit of time in the boys play room.  Little Nathan was sleeping through this whole production and woke up just in time to go outside.  They captured more footage of Andrew playing in the back yard and then of Nathan & Andrew playing with their water table and taking a wagon ride. 

After three hours of footage, our house was back to normal with just the four of us.  Steve and I were trying to remember the questions Mike asked us and our responses because we were each playing with Andrew while the other was being interviewed and didn't get to hear each other.  We didn't get too far and each thought we didn't do that great, but we were assured everything would come together.  I guess that's the beauty of television and editing :)

Overall, we just want to make a difference and help the MDA continue to get their message out there - it is all about AWARENESS, ACCEPTANCE and ASSISTANCE!!
