Protecting Nathan

Today Nathan received his first Synagis medication to help protect him from catching a severe lung infection from RSV (respiratory syncytial virus). Nathan is considered high risk for this virus due to his prematurity and small, under-developed lungs. Nathan will receive Synagis every 28 days during the RSV season, which is estimated to last November - March this winter/spring.

We are so happy that Nathan is growing and packing on the pounds, but today found out that his weight gain for once is a disadvantage. Nathan has to get two shots each month of Synagis, since he requires more medicine than can be injected into one muscle. This poor little boy just can't seem to catch a break no matter what the situation!! We are just thankful he won't remember any of this and pray for a HEALTHY winter!!
